Title: Anyone Else See This?
Post by: Dan Filetti on February 05, 2011, 11:33:12 AM
This month's, (March 2011) issue of Cycle World has, as it usually does, the "25 Years Ago" blurb, as a side bar on page 13.  The New FJ1200 appeared on the cover of the March 1986 issue next to the caption "FIRST TEST: Yamaha FJ1200 Bigger Badder, Better"

It's a short blurb so I'll retype:

"Bigger Badder, Better, blazoned on the cover lines touting Yamaha', new FJ1200 sport-tourer.  Inside, our test called it 'the king of the streetbikes,' a powerful, comfortable all-arounder that could even out-gun the mighty V-Max in roll-on acceleration.  It's 116 hp wasn't anything to write home about, but we acted like nothing was ever likely to outdo the 72 ft.-lb. of midrange torque.  If only we knew..."

Not a horrible homage for the venerable FJ.

FYI,

Dan

Yeah , I saw it .

I was wondering when the 86 would finally come up in the 25yrs ago section.

I agree on the good homage , I actually remember seeing that issue on the newsstand all those years ago.
