Title: Tire pressure monitor systems (TPMS) Any recommendations?
Post by: Pat Conlon on February 01, 2011, 04:27:09 PM
Has anyone experienced the dreaded weeble wobbles when you pick up a nail in your tire? Fun huh?  Some advanced warning would be cool.
I've been looking into adding a TPMS to my FJ's for a couple of years now. A Nice safety feature with a warning light when pressures get low, nice convenience to glance at your pressures while riding.
A velcro mount on the right side inner faring panel on my FJ's would be great.

I've found a couple of reviews.

The Doran 360M system which looks to be time tested and the most popular:  http://wingstuff.com/pgroup_detail/11242_Tire_Pressure_Monitor/22885_RIDE_INTO_SUMMER_SAFER_Doran_2_Wheel_Motorcycle/?goto=%2Fpgroup_list%2Fgl1800%2F11242_goldwing_Tire_Pressure_Monitor%2Fdes%2F (http://wingstuff.com/pgroup_detail/11242_Tire_Pressure_Monitor/22885_RIDE_INTO_SUMMER_SAFER_Doran_2_Wheel_Motorcycle/?goto=%2Fpgroup_list%2Fgl1800%2F11242_goldwing_Tire_Pressure_Monitor%2Fdes%2F)

The new Tire Gard system:

The L&S system:

[edit] I also found the Kissan TPM-30: http://xchoppers.com/product_info.php?products_id=1833 (http://xchoppers.com/product_info.php?products_id=1833)    Looks good, but Very pricey @ $300

[edit] Finally, Orange Electronic has a brand new system offered as of today:

Any thoughts or recommendations? Yes, I know about rubber tire stems with the external sensors. I go thru a set of tires every 12 to 18 months on my bikes, so the inside the rim mount for the sensor would not be a problem.
Just plan on fresh batteries with every tire change.         TIA   Pat
