File the slot in the one you have a bit and save the cash?
Otherwise ebay, breakers, legends builders, etc.
Factory Pro still lists one on their website (http://www.factorypro.com/prod_pages/prody08.html), but they're asking a fortune for it.
When you say "file a slot", could you be a bit more technical? Do you mean file the fixing holes for the back plate so that the whole assembly moves round 4 degrees?
Here's a crap picture of an older (1100) trigger plate. I'm too slack to run upstairs and take a picture of what the 1200 looks like, but the concept is the same.

Looking at about 11 o`clock you can see the slot in the rotor in that picture. The rotor is retained to the end of the crank by a single bolt, and it sits on a flat portion machined into the end of the crank, with a protrusion to center it. There's a pin in the end of the crank that the slot fits over, to locate it in the proper orientation. Just file the slot a bit wider (sit, do the math, figure out the proper width as I can't be arsed to go measure and work it out right now) to bring the extended portion past the ignition trigger sensor a few degrees (4-5) earlier, and you have an advanced ignition.
Of course you could also search (http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=2653.msg21001#msg21001) and find out what other folks have done to achieve the same effect (http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=2653.msg20976#msg20976).
If you wanted to get super fancy, you could play with moving the trigger around, and mark it so that you could go immediately from stock to +2 to +4 to whatever, for tuning purposes.
My bike had one and I didn't notice a bit of difference when I had to replace it with a standard one after dropping the bike.
Maybe that's just me.
What sort of advantage is meant to happen with the advance anyway?
I'd vote save your money for something else like a fork brace.
I remember when I put a V&H advancer on my '85. I tried hard to convince myself that it helped, but in reality I was just trying to justify the expense. Absolutely no change in performance according to the butt-dyno.

Same here I put one on my fj and did not notice any improvement
In theory you gain mildly quicker throttle response and better low-rpm power, but the amount of gain is usually quite small, around 1-2hp or so at peak.
That said, I wouldn't pay the $90 that factory pro wants for one, but if it's ten minutes with a dremel to make one, I don't see why you wouldn't, just for another thing to tinker with!
