Today, I finally got around to running the engines up on the bikes with fuel stabilizer flowing through the fuel system and then pulling the batteries to keep them warm inside.
It was great to hear them run one last time until spring, but sad at the same time knowing it will be a long time before they breath air once again.
Temps here today were in the 20s with ice on the ground.
Thank god for all the rally videos to keep my blood pumping through the winter months.
And for those of you that can keep riding, good on you and I wish you a safe riding season!

I always have to laugh when asked how to winterize my bikes. It 60+ degrees outside and may rain the longest of a week here in the bay area. Maybe the FJ Clubbers should look at some investment property out here on the west coast and turn it into a time share for winterizing withdrawals.
Ah yes. I thought it was put away but yesterday was dry so... A quick 35 miles to put a little air under the front tire and move the speedo and tach through their range of motion. Surprising how rough it rides with cold suspension and tires. Hopefully I have a little immunity to the mod bug this winter and get some maintenance and cosmetic work done.
I feel your pain Leon. I may get one more ride in tomorrow or Monday but that's it. Snowing here right now. :(
I am sympathetic to all you poor sad souls that have to stop riding this time of year. :empathy3:
This is the time to tear down and clean your fj , maybe do a few modifications, of course do the yearly maint like grease up the brgs and swingarm , steering head brgs, do the headlight relay mod or the voltage reg mod or the ignition mod.
Get out the atlas and plan the really cool road trip for next spring.
As for Me I will keep riding and maybe post some pics to keep ya warm.
while it does get cold here (14 F here last winter for a few days) we seldom have snow or ice so i just plug in the heated gear and keep riding :good2:
of course ya have to remember the roads are still cold so lean angles must be kept in check but its still riding!
i assume all you guys who get snow regularly also have snow mobiles to suppliment your motorcycles ?

In my case, no!
There is even less of a season (decent amount of snow) for riding sleds than there is for bikes, here.
Besides, I'm not a cold weather lover to spend my free time out freezing my hinny off!

I'm right there with you, Leon. My bike has been winterized and put away since the third week of October. It just got too fooking cold to ride any more. The only thing I hate worse than being cold is being wet and cold. Snowmobiles are way more expensive than bikes, they break more, and the riding season is a lot more weather dependent than motorcycling. Although we have snow on the ground here, and we have for 22 days already, it's hardly enough to go sledding on. I leave the snowmobiles to the rednecks with their dumb pickups with the lift kits, big tires, and rebel flags on them.
Yes, unfortunately we do have a lot of those here at 45° N latitude.

Yup...its time to dig the sled out. Have go through clutches, change chain case oil, grease skid, fresh plugs etc. Fix anything that needs fix'n. Sorta what I go through in the spring with the FJ. This time of year in our climate we have to winterize bikes and boats to put away, and get sleds ready to use. In the spring we summarize our sleds, and tune and ready bikes and boats for riding and fishing. Seems like we are always getting something ready for the season, but that's all part of it, the way I see it. Keeps us busy. Always something to work on.
And you can still get your Kookakloo on a sled. Nothing like the straight seat of your pants pull of a sled.
