I have read of this drum making the rounds to different rallys, but never understood the meaning behind it, and where it all got started.
Anyone care to fill in the blanks to this topic?
Thanks,
Leon
View some of Klavdy's videos from the 2005 Central FJ Rally and you'll understand:

I have view nearly all of the clubs rally videos, and I must have missed something.
Was it Klavdy that introduced us to the drum?
Was it bought by him, and now has turned into sort of a club mascot?
Sorry for sounding too think-headed if the answers to my questions are right in front of me.

OK, thanks Harvy!
I look forward to learning more about it after getting myself to some rallies!

The drum was almost a tanning bed.

The drum was almost a tanning bed.
Some urged me to build a fire it it and float it in the Tellico River.
I considered it for a few minutes...

it's klowny's little legacy. he buys it, then leaves it with us to figure out who's gonna be stuck with it each year. funny guy, he is.

Hahhahaa!
How long were you the custodian?
It was kind of a neat talking point when you had visitors, no?
Whopping great tympani drum clogging up your lounge room,be hard to miss.
And yes,Mr Bean has the gist of it, it almost WAS a tanning bed.
So.
Would you like to hear the whole strange and terrible saga that is The Drum?

I'm all ears buddy, do tell!
I remember sitting at Klavdys place prior to its actual arrival chatting to Klavdy about it.......he was EXCITED.........was a COOL idea, but I think some on the group who have had the pleasure of its company as a pillion have a different word for it...... :rofl2:
But I will say no more......this story belongs in the hands of Klavdy and the Kustodians!

Way too long (was it 3 years?), but no one else would take it.
It didn't take too much room at home...

But hauling it was a different matter altogether.

OK Klavdy old man, do you have the story on the drum yet?
I'd be most entertained to hear the it!
Leon
Randy hauling that drum is no problem just ask Dean, he'll show you how it's done.
Hey Dean...Where's that photo of you with the drum? That was a classic. I checked the Yahoo photos, no luck.... Pat
You mean this one? :)

I can't find the one of him actually riding with it on there...

But then, Dean needs a bit less room on the bike than I do.

Ah, Never mind. It fit a lot easier in the Chevy, though.
How much beer can you fit in that thing? :scratch_one-s_head:

A very rare event, you see on that day Deano was protected by the FJ gods....Thanks Garth!
I wasn't judging. It was just an observation. Ride as you like, my friends. I've been know to make a run to the shops in RayBans only.
He's been observed riding in a lot less, but I have no idea who has that video.

its ok skin heals.... :good2: (popcorn) is it ornament only or do you all go nuts and play 2010 a space odyssey? or is it just so you can be louder than HD'S at lights?
It seems there is a fair amount of curiosity regarding the origin and meaning of The Drum.

tRoy plays, and James "Earthdrum". The rest of us just give it the occasional bash in passing. The pedal isn't connected, so you can't bend the tone, but it makes it much easier to transport since the base isn't connected to the actual drum.
AFAIK, there haven't been any complaints from fellow campers. Which is rather surprising, actually, what with huge fires, the Drum, fireworks, and potato cannons. :good2:
Rossi
 noice!! potatoe cannons eh? sounds like well good fun
