Title: Advice for a first timer!
Post by: 1tinindian on November 15, 2010, 12:38:08 PM
Having never been to a rally yet, what is expected of me?
Mostly need to know about sleeping accommodations.

Tent? Sleeping bag? or are cabins rented to use?

Any other advice or thoughts on the subject would be useful.

Thanks,
Leon

LOL... ahhh show up... What Rally are you planning on?  The Colorado rally?? Id say reserve a cabin or bring your camping gear. I have slept in a few cabins during rallies, but personally prefer my camping gear. Bring a good attitude and be willing to meet some great folks. They are not formal rallies with strict guidelines. More like a bunch of friends hanging out, cooking some good food and just enjoying life and takes some rides out and back..Some of my best friends are from the rallies I have been to over the years...

Leon, what are you planning? I may be interested in a tag-along, depending upon what you're thinking. If it's the trailer, I can meet you near the border...

Definately planning on the Colorado Rally.
Still not decided if I'm riding all the way out or not.

Interesting suggestion guys!
Not really sure what all I'll be able to bring with me, but I can always buy what I need while out there.

I feel keeping the topic of the Colorado Rally alive is what will get me through this coming winter.
I have all kinds of things planned to have completed on my FJ for next summers riding.

If you can't tell by now, I'm really excited about the trip and have a co-worker of mine ready to go with me, as well as my oldest son.

Still need a firm date don't we?

My employer tried their best to knock me out of the ECSR this week, when they moved the Air Show to May, but missed by a week.

Yes, a date would be good, as we can't plan too early, I feel.

I'd be interested in the Air Show you mentioned.

Not sure who the show team is this year, but I think it's the Blue Angels' turn.

This year was The Horsemen...     http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Horsemen_Aerobatic_Team (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Horsemen_Aerobatic_Team)     :good:

I saw the Blue Angels last June at the St.Cloud, MN Air Show. That alone was well worth the price of admission.
