What FJ do you like the most?

While I own a '90, my favorite color scheme is the '89 Dark blue/gold....
it has to be the early ones, the 1tx as its known over here, does benefit from a wheel, brake and suspension upgrade, but thats fair enough after 25 or so years, they are the best looking and nicest to ride (in my opinion!!!!!!!!!!).
1985 :greeting:
Any year that's not mine. The grass is always greener under the other FJ, but I think an '85 painted in the Shiny black/gold scheme with polished 17" wheels might put my wandering eye to rest.

Am really startin' to appreciate FJ11's again... so the black and gold on an earlier gen 1 or 2 shape...
I have a 91 in pretty decent shape, but I'm looking forward to getting the 85 I recently picked up back in good condition. I have always liked the way the 1100's looked...

I Love the 90 Midnight Blue. The paint changes color in the sun.

I love my White 90 as it looks like a cop bike to car drives and they move over for me. Other than that, one that runs as I love these bikes. They are so rare down in San Diego.

I also am fond of the mysterious 1988 - in black and red of course!
But your '88 is 2nd Gen. Not 3rd, sorry :empathy3:
oh come on now , we all know the 86 is the most beautiful fj there is. :pardon:

Methinks this has not gone the intended direction, at least so far...

The survey has the 88' in gen 3 category, may be misleading to some....Aside from color it is just as perfect as the 86/87. But the Black and Red does look good our bikes as well.

Maybe in some parts of the world it seems, but the '88s supplied to the Great White North are exactly like the '89s supplied to the US.

Yes I figured there would be confusion there, that is why I asked "which generation FJ" in the poll
The 3rd generation was released in 88. even though Lotsokids claims he has an 88 it is identical (including color scheme)
to the 87' FJ. so one could assume he knows it is Gen 2 Not Gen 3.
Lotsokids, if you don't mind. could you tell me what the tenth digit of your vin number is?

Not sure what year my paint scheme is from, but it works well on the 84's

I guess we can consider them to be the 88' and 88.5'?
Maybe this could be tracked down to a "Production Date" Where the early '88's were 2nd Gen, and the later '88's were 3rd Gen.
All those of you that own '88 models, could post up a picture of your bike stock, and the date of manufacture....
Being in the auto parts business for many years, I have seen many car makers change something mid-year.(Ford is notorious for this) where you need to know the build date to look up the correct parts......
Could've been in play at Yamaha in 1988. :scratch_one-s_head:

Yes, mine is identical to an '87 (Gen 2). It was a little bit of a challenge when I started buying parts for it. Most internet parts sites don't even list a 1988 at all. So for purposes such as buying parts, I consider it a 1987.
10th digit on the VIN is........ there is no 10th digit. I just looked and I only have 9.

Something is not right here... modern VINs have 17 characters.

You didn't confuse the motor number with the V.I.N. number did you?
I know; stupid question, but I have to ask.

No problem. I checked my title, the frame, and the engine. They all match with a 9 digit number. I knew '88s were goofy...
What year is marked on the title thats what year it is.
MINE!!!!!!!! 86 1TX beast bike in the world.....next to a stock gpz 900r or a 750 kat with pop up....:D i mean face it..... if the 1TX was the first then the rest are just copies of the superior product :good2: :blum1:

The 17 digit code was not implemented around the world at the same time. I believe a lot of markets including the Japanese home market kept the manufacturer's old vin system well into the 90's.

I voted for the 86 of course. I just love the red/white color scheme. I don't know why I just do. But I think the 89 is the best year for mods because it already has some of the good bits on it.
Beauty is in the eye of the beerholder. With all honesty, I believe the 1984 is the most beautifull because silver and red really look great together. Since the 84's were the only year to have this color combo it should have seperate vote column, I think.

Holy crap!
Pat has a twin??
I didn't think it was possible to find another FJ owner that OCD on polishing and cleanliness. :wacko2: Not to mention both having '84's.
SkyFive - is that bike as perfect in person as it looks in the photo?
I have to admit, that's really nice!

Yup, WINNER - drop dead gorgeous, unmolested, 16" wheel an' all, no beer necessary - WINNER!
Just my opinion,
But Klavdy's ex-seppo bike b4 the infamous pinecone incident, with all the mods looked just drop dead beautiful!!! :good2: I hope the new owner will bring it back to it's former glory and post pics.
Again, just my opinion,

New owner here... Bought and paid for, picking up after Thanksgiving. :hi:
I will post pics if I can figure out how. The target outcome is actually more of a hybrid of Klavdy's bike with more of the good stuff from Ritt (bought his exhaust and tune) and a few minor upgrades of my own. I intend to take the time to do it right and make it beautiful in form and function... Then ride the snot out of it :bye2:
I love my '90 and will keep it to compare the two when complete, so I have no reason to compromise on the '92. Afterward, one of the two will be for sale... Probably early spring.

Thank you. I just completed a complete restoration on it and it was alot of hard work. I painted everything except the bodywork and I polished everything (note kickstand spring) that isn't painted. It looks as good in person but it isn't without a few flaws. The tank has two dents on the right side the size of a quarter and there are scratches here and there on the bodywork but I don't want to break the paint because I would never get it as good as the factory. It's still a work in progress.

Alright!!! this guy and Pat get special parking at rallies....very far away from the rest of us......where we can't see and compare our bikes to theirs. We will chain off the parking so it looks like their bikes are just for show and not for riding. Is sniffing the polish like sniffing glue and you get addicted? I really want to make the next WCR but now I feel like I need to make sure my valve covers have a mirror finish on the inside just in case anyone looks.
Awesome dedication to detail, any bike that is over 20 years old that looks like that is a sign of pure love and passion. Keep it up...but park somewhere else.
holy hell batman.... thats an awesome bike skyfive.... i agree with you it is awesome, red silver goes well, but i am in love with the red white that colour setup. is your garage vacuum sealed? i can only dream of even at least contemplating to begin to get to started to get motivated to clean my engine and frame....... :ireful:
