Title: Clicking Noise
Post by: karl61 on October 28, 2010, 06:40:19 PM
After about a minute warm up I start getting a clicking noise. I can't hear it when the choke is on just after I take it off and as it starts to warm up. I put a little video up on Youtube so you can hear it. It goes away when it's rev it up. It's just there on a very low idle.

it's an 84 fj1100 with 34000 miles on it. It has cobra pipes on it.

Not a loose valve...Mine taps in time with the RPM's...Something like a tappy valve is a happy valve...At least the intake won't burn up.

DON'T adjust the idle, wait til she's FULLY warmed up 1st!! 1 minute of warmup means she's STILL cold....... Idle should be higher than it is at the time the video was done, but she's NOT hot yet. What does she idle at after 20 minutes of riding?? And, is the clicking still there?  FJs are NOT a quiet engine.....  At idle, the clutch rattles, the cams rattle, and there other noises too.... The fins make some noise and amplify engine noises, as well.
