Looking to acquire a supertrap exhaust system from an '86 FJ. Can anyone tell me if I would encounter any fitment issues if I wanted to install on an 89? Anybody out there using a Supertrap system with impressions or words of wisdom to share? Thanks.

Seems like there are at least 3 Supertrapp variants I've seen for FJ's, 1) the aluminum silencer cannister with band clamp and a plain steel 4-1 headpipe 2) The stainless headpipe and a stainless megaphone shaped silencer 3) Frank's (internal baffle?) with a spout on the outlet. Different generations? I'm thinking the only fit difference is the mounting tab location for the silencer is moved after 87? Easy to modify?

Go to General Discussion section - Then click on "Found 1989 FJ1200" sept 16 and go to page 3. I wrote the differences in all 3 generations with part numbers and posted pictures in gallery. The 1986 megaphone is 6 inches longer than one for 1989-90 ,but the header is the same. The 86 system will work on 89 - you just have to relocate tab forward. Keep in mind its most likely is a stainless system and has to be welded as such.

If you're talking about the exhaust on eBay, I can show you pics of it, and the damage you'll have to fix. It looks like someone used a jack underneath it and cracked the pipes.
Thanks to all for the good info. Relacating mount is not an issue, so appears to be doable.
