Title: 'Banded Out' Rims?
Post by: Perez on October 20, 2010, 07:20:32 AM
On this website:  http://www.fjmods.btinternet.co.uk/Wheels.htm (http://www.fjmods.btinternet.co.uk/Wheels.htm)

About half way down the guy talks about taking older rims and having them 'banded out'

What is it, and is it worth it? I bet it would be really expensive.

The place is in Germany  http://www.deget.com/index_ie.html (http://www.deget.com/index_ie.html)

It makes the rims wider. Not really worth it unless you have ABS or have some unhealthy love for your stock wheels.

I'd be curious to know what it costs.....Its must cost 4X compared to any of the refit or mod options....

Here in Windsor Calif, we have a expert, Sandy Kosman, who provides this service: http://www.kosman.net/weldup.htm (http://www.kosman.net/weldup.htm)
Yep, it's expensive, but for FJ folks who want to retain their ABS and have a 3.5x17" front and 5.5x17" rear, this is the way to go...

Sandy Kosman is well known in the drag racing circles, he makes a bitchen pro-stock frame.   HTH  Pat

If you want to play your going to pay  Buying the bike is the cheep part and then the $$$ just keep going up from there.
