Title: Galfer Wave Rotor on FZR1000 rear wheel.
Post by: Firehawk068 on October 15, 2010, 02:01:45 AM
The rear pads were absolutely worn out! So it was time to replace, along with the Galfer Wave Rotor that I ordered before the WCR, but didn't arrive in time.

During.............

Installation was a breeze..........A little threadlock on the bolts.......and there we have it!

I also took a couple pics of my solution to the rear brake torque arm with my FZR1000 wheel swap.
The stock one actually fit back on, and had a slight amount of clearance, but was too close for my liking......so I ordered one from this guy.

They make them for Vmax, but the length was perfect for the FJ. :i_am_so_happy: They make them in a variety of styles, and finishes. I chose this one for slightly less weight, and I like the black finish.

I was able to use the stock bolts, and nothing comes close to contacting the master cylinder, or banjo bolts up front there during suspension compression.
I am certain there should be some sort of offset to it, but when torqued down, the rear pads wear pretty flat and straight.
I may address the offset some time in the future, but for now I'll run it as-is. We'll see how these new pads wear. :good2:
I also had a slight weight savings with the new rotor.
The stock rotor I took off weighed 3lbs, 1oz.
The Galfer rotor weighs 2lbs, 7oz.

Nice looking rotor, I am doing the GSXR rear wheel mop at the moment and would like a galfer to replace the wornout Suzuki disk, and the torque arm looks perfect for the Suzuki setup.

Man, that is purty! How's the brake effort compared to stock?

Rear pedal is definately "right there" when I go to use it.......compared to my long pedal with the worn out pads.
I haven't tried a high-effort stop with it yet, cause i wanted the pads a chance to wear-in for a while before I do....

that looks awesome!
I'm gonna order that rear brake bar right away for my swap.

What all did you have to do to make that FZR1000 rear wheel swap in?
I want to do this, but have no idea where to start.

Alan, I am using you as my example for this 17" swap and I love the brake bar.
I just ordered mine from the site you suggested, except I got one polished, because I like polished, AND it was on sale! ($30) plus shipping!

Nice looking setup Alan, did that rim come from the factory in gold or was it painted, powder coated?

I like the gold  :good2:

When I got the wheels, one was painted white.......the other one was painted yellow......
I had them blasted, and powder-coated Gold........Then I set about polishing the lips.....
You wouldn't believe me if i told you how I did it, so you'll just have to read about it here...
