I recently bought a 1985 FJ1100.
It has been sitting for two years, and I have started to slowly remove parts to clean and inspect. The condition of the bike is good, the previous owner used the bike to commute, and had very little time to pull things apart and maintain.
this turns out to my benefit, as most parts appear to be in original condition, hardened hoses, slightly seized parts, stiff wiring etc.
these things I have experience in, and lots of careful labour usually gets things going, however, I have gotten hold of the service manual, and read most of it quickly, but I am lacking an owners manual.
This manual, I am guessing, would help me with simple things like removing airboxes, what buttons do what. it took me 10 minutes to get the seat off, 30 minutes to get the carbs out, and 15 minutes staring at the "guts" too afraid to touch anything! What does the "boost" do?!
If anyone can point me in the direction of an owners manual, or link to a "how did they fit that in there" page, I would be very grateful.

OK, I don't know where you can get a 1985 fj1100 handbook, but you can get a 1986 FJ1200S owner's manual here:

If that link doesn't work go to http://www.yamaha-motor.com.au (http://www.yamaha-motor.com.au) and then to "support" and put "owner's manual" in the search box. You can then fill in the blanks as stated above.
Some items are better asked here though, like removing the 2 17mm headed bolts next to the battery box so you can then rotate the subframe down enough to get the carbs and airbox out more eaaily.
