Man, it was great to see you guys again. I'm sorry to have missed the "regulars" and the semi-regulars who didn't make it this time (Eric M, Calvin, Rock, among others.)
Andrew and I had a nice cool ride down TN 68 and then GA 60 past T.W.O. For some reason, almost everybody we came up behind pulled over to let us by.
The last stretch home (GA 400) wasn't even terribly hot and trafficky.
Andrew swapped the motorcycle for the car and headed on toward his mom's house, where his mom (and his XBOX, and his friends on XBOX Live) await him. I pulled the FJ battery (thanks for the push start, Stu!) and found it boiled dry in most cells. I have a spare, but will try to reanimate this one yet again with some distilled water and a trickle charge.
Every vehicle in my house needs an oil change; I wonder if Mobil 1 comes in a 5-gallon bucket.
I hope everyone gets home safe. And Iron Butt Mike, I hope you have an amazing trip home.
It was good to see everybody who made it there. I can't tell you how thrilled I was that Andrew enjoyed it with me too. This was an epic, life-changing weekend for him - and for me too.

Bill,
I cant think of anything more cool than a father and son sharing a ride across the cherohala.
the boy is all right... ya done good brother ! :good2:
KOokaloo!
Yes Bill, that young 'un is raised right! I'm so glad that he and you are enjoying the bikes together. He doesn't even act like he gets embarrassed by some of the shennigans.
We aren't home yet, but at least in FL, about 2.5 hrs from home.
Heard someone else had a get off today.....
Dean made it home too.
And I don't think I have allergies from any of the stuff up there as I'm still sniffling and snorting.....dang it!

Got home around 6:30 after a 10:30am departure. It was a looooong day seated on the upholstered plank that Corbin tries to pass off as a seat.
But it was worth every bit of discomfort.
It was certainly great seeing everyone again!
I was able to go and ride with everybody friday and what a great bunch of people. If anybody ever wants to go to one of these rallies go because the people are great and they make you fill welcome. The ridding was great the weather was good and I smoked a front tire in all the fun.I hope everbody gets home okay.
THANKS BUDDY
We finally got home last night about 10pm. Poor Jeff had to stop too many times for me. Today I'm home sick, sick, sick.....so Stu it wasn't allergies! Dang it!

Where the hell is/was Rock?
Oh brother where art thou?
I think the lack of rain may have scared him off. He is one of those adv types now and good weather makes you look like a poser.
4 pics posted on the Rally site. 4 pics? Come on, guys. How can I vicariously enjoy the rally without pics? Dean's picss notwithstanding. :nea:

I had it all planned out...loosely. Down through The Land Between the Lakes and a no-reservations trip to Tellico with no specific timing, and a side trip down the Natchez Trace on the way back. Not my usual over-planned Red Roof Inn tour.
Then everything went to hell. I got sick, plus I'm still unemployed and money's getting tight. Discretion being the better part of valor/foolishness, I decided it was better that I stay home. Now I'm sorry that I did.
Am I misinterpreting something, or has Hoffman got a
girlfriend? :shok:

You shoulda been with me & Barb (who, BTW, is long gone...) two or three years ago in Boone. Rain all the way down...beautiful weather all week...then it started raining about 3 miles outside of Boone on the way back and didn't stop until we were about 10 miles from home. Cold, fog, torrential downpours along the Ohio river, and a hailstorm in London, KY. I had so much gear on that I didn't notice it was hailing until I saw it bouncing off the pavement. All the Harley pirates were cowering under the overpasses. We just kept riding. :good2:

...so, the rally itself was a bit of a let down?

Artsy-fartsy bastarard.
Seriously, dude...you've got an eye. As an ex-artist, I know whereof I speak. Nice work.
Oh, and BTW, Bill...it ain't an ADVenture until the weather tuns to shit. Anybody can ride when it's nice out. Those of us with huge, throbbing cojones just keep going. As the guy who binned it on the way to a Fall Rally and then slept in the gazebo at Tellico, you should know this. Christ, I miss you guys. :good2:

ditto, i started to upload photos, but it was rather time consuming. i'll load up some more i suppose, i just can't sit at the computer and load all the ones i want to at once, it would take a bit of time.

I get your frustration and understand your point. Let me offer a counter-point. This is not free unlimited hosting – I am not Google. I have found that the quality (selection) of the photos is improved by uploading them one at a time.
For example - I had 223 photos that I took at the last 2010 West Coast Rally. I narrowed it down and ended up only posting 79 photos. I had to post them up one at a time and write a description just like everyone else. Why did I take the time to do this? Because they will always be there (as long as I keep paying the hosting fee) for myself and others to view and relive a few memories.
Here are Steve's 295 photos taken from the last WCR. http://picasaweb.google.com/moparman70/FJRally2010WillitsCA?authkey=Gv1sRgCL__1e2KgrWoMA&feat=directlink# (http://picasaweb.google.com/moparman70/FJRally2010WillitsCA?authkey=Gv1sRgCL__1e2KgrWoMA&feat=directlink#) They do not appear to have been narrowed down. I find it much more interesting to browse through photos where someone has taken the time to hand pick out the interesting photos and has also taken the time to write some sort of comment to go along with the photo.
I want people to upload as many photos as they would like from a given rally. That said – I would also like some thought put into which pics are uploaded.
All of the above being said: I have looked and have been unable to find an ASP based Photo Gallery that allows public uploading and offering multiple image uploading.
The FJRally site is becoming less relevant now anyways with the adoption of this forum. If rally attendees start to not post up their pics – then I can save a few bucks and close down that site.

Is it possible to merge or move FJRally to FJowners?
sorry, marsh, if i came across wrong, it was meant more of blaming me for not having the patience, rather than complaining about the site. i hope you knew that. ( :

Dean & Frank - I didn't take anything personally from you guys - don't worry! :good2: I just wanted to make my point and/or justification for the one-at-a-time photo upload thing on that website. Like I said - I also have no choice/other option right now either. I'm sure that as time and technology march on that we'll move on to some other way of sharing our photos anyway. We could always just have a bunch of links listed to everyones personal flicker, picassa etc. galleries, even though that just seems inelegant to me. It would totally work though if everyone kept their photos up.
It's all good!
