Title: Where is the bloody oil filter and drain plug!

I am obviously daft, where is the oil filter and drain plug on this 89 fj?

JJG....... the sump plug is in the middle of the sump and toward the front, just behind a cast in protective lug on the bottom of the sump.
If you have aftermarket headers you may not be able to see it and or access it without removing the exhaust first.

The filter is in a housing on the lhs of the engine directly above the sidestand pivot point.
It is generally recommended that you do not remove the little drain screw in the bottom of the housing...... it tends to strip.
The large bolt in the middle of the housing passes thru the filter and is hollow for oil flow.........there is also a couple of O rings and a spring in there........here is parts diag:

Just be careful when putting the filter housing back on that you do not pinch the cable that snakes it way around that area.
