hi !
Since yesturday i try to get that old lady back on the road, i striped the carburetors to clean and check, one of the jets was loose on the bottom :nea:
after that, put all back together and again fuel leak from the overflow on carb 4 but only sometimes, #3 and #4 get backfire through the carb and i have a big question !
On the carbs, we have 4 pipes for the overflow
One pipe coming from the fuel pump to a rail for all the carbs
AND ! between carb 1 and 2 i have a bigger pipe coming off and an other one between 3 and 4, thoose big pipes, where they go ??? because one of them was plugged to the air box so where go the other one ? or a junction between them is missing ?
i need your help for thoose pipes, i need to know if i have everything in place before i start the setup
thank you all :good2:
hi :good2:
does someone would have a picture of the carburetors without the air box to help me on my mission
Hi David, welcome to our club house.
What year FJ1200 mate?........ and is it a US model or a European OEM?....... it makes a difference as to how all the piping goes together.
GO here:
http://www.boats.net/parts/search/Yamaha/Motorcycle/parts.html (http://www.boats.net/parts/search/Yamaha/Motorcycle/parts.html)
and select your year, then drill down to the model and finally select CARBURETOR to see a part diagram.
HTH.
Cheers

pipe 1 and 2 are the problem !
when i took the airbox out and the fuel tank, pipe 2 was fitted to " ?? " showed on the picture but pipe 1 wasn't fitted :nea:
i have done a junction between them so now they are fitted both to the air box, don't know if i am right but this is the only way i thought
??? is a drain for the airbox. A hose should attach to that port and allow any condensation, excess fuel or oil to drain to teh ground.
Pipes 1 and 2 are carb float bowl breather/overflow hoses. These hoses should NOT be attached to the airbox. They should be routed around the right side of the heat shield and into a loop on the back side of the engine case.
Pipe 3 is correct, it's the crankcase breather hose that vents into the airbox.
