Title: petcock servicing
Post by: skins1 on September 03, 2010, 12:07:10 PM
The "spigot" on my FJ1100's petcock (the metal arm that fuel line attaches to) came out of petcock. Pushes back in, but swivels around and will come out again, no doubt. Obviously dangerous - any ideas on how to repair? Tried JB Weld, no good. I'm 16 - this is my first "big" bike - and I just can't afford a new assembly.

I used Loctite on mine when it came loose.  When I put it back together, I wrapped a tiewrap around it so it would stay in place.

I eventually replaced it with a new one but still put a tiewrap on, it justin case.

Definitely do something.  More than one FJ has burned to the ground when the petcock outlet fell off while running.

green loctite for bearings is the most permanent solution.

and the tie wrap for extra security.
