Title: Hi Y'all - from Hungary
Post by: Lotsokids on September 01, 2010, 10:36:35 AM
It took me FOREVER to find an "FJ" forum. I went to fj1100.com and it was deader than Elvis over there. Glad to be here.  :good2:

Just last year I got a job in the country of Hungary, so I moved here from Tacoma, Washington. I have a wonderful wife and 6 kids - thus the screen name "Lotsokids."

I own what seems to be a rare 1988 FJ1200. I understand they didn't import them that year into the U.S., but I have MPH on my speedometer. I bought it here in Hungary for about $2,000. Anything here over 600cc gets really expensive. I've got a friend taking care of my super fast 1985 V-Max back in Washington. I miss her.

A couple weeks ago, I found a 1/4 mile drag track east of Budapest that was offering free testing, so I jumped on it. I'll paste pictures and links to the videos in the video section: http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=2594.0 (http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=2594.0). GOOD TIMES.

Welcome aboard!   :hi: I felt the exact same way when I finally found this forum.  This is the most useful and helpful forum I have ever been a part of.  Hopefully you find it equally helpful and fun here.

Great looking family!  (I come from a family of 6 kids)  I'd say you're lucky to even have enough time to ride your motorcycle.

Welcome to the group :hi:

the 88's are rare indeed.

looks like you have your hands full.  kids are great , enjoy.

I used to have a v-max myself . an 85 that was stolen in 86. Bought a new one in 2001 and sold it when I got the fj.

Yes, original black and red. It's actually not black, but the deepest blue I've ever seen. You would never know unless you look at it about 1 foot away. I just adjusted the valves (shims) - that sucked as it always does. Plus I installed new fork seals for the first time. Pretty easy, and contrary to the manual, you do NOT need to separate the forks (inner cylinder from outer cylinder).

I just bought a used Vance & Hines SS2R pipe that I need to weld in somehow. I need this thing louder!

These are some very old pictures from when I first bought it. The rear suspension looks high because when I bought it, I found a blown Kawasaki air shock installed. How in the world did THAT get in there?  :wacko2:
