Cliff notes: YZF600R (97-02) fuel pump is identical, 99-02 R6 unit will work, maybe $100 new, maybe $40 used.

Parts from RPM Randy (posts here on this site) are much more reasonable than your local dealer.
Similarly, a lot of us have ordered stuff like this from zanottimotor.com.

Local dealers generally (in my experience) 1) don't have the part in stock and have to order it, 2) require payment in advance, 3) charge you full retail, and then 4) require you to make a second trip back to their shop to pick it up when they're open.

All the listed pumps below will work.  So wll any others that you find and can fit in the alloted space that are "low-pressure" units.  You do NOT want a pump that is for a fuel injection system.

FUEL PUMPs   Part No      Pressure Range   Max. Flow
  Brand      FED-40104    1.5 – 3.5psi   28 gph
  FEDTRO      FED-40105    2.5 – 4.5psi   30 gph
   Sold on Ebay.au by       the_auction_broker  (Philip Island)
* FuelFlo        015        1  -  4psi   23 gph  1.5Lpm
   Repco supplied for A$110.00
Airtex -       ES8016S      2.5-4.5 PSI   30 GPH
5/16" hose barbs   It is a solenoid pump that stops fuel if no power
