Holy shit man the rally is in less than 50 days! Wow! I talked to Jennifer @ KOA today to reserve a Kabin for Bill & Me, Monday night thru Sat night. Fred, Larry & Mike will be around, too... only across the road over in the high-maintenance-bitch lodging area.
Larry got an FJR, Mike got an FJ ! If the Ninja 2.5 does not sell before then we may be bringing it, too.
WooooHooo!!
Bill?
..yes sir. you hooked me up for Boone & I'd like to return the favor! I'd hope to see you there (tellico) monday but I suspect I won't see you 'till later in the week?
If you made a reservation last year at check out, you might want to double check... mine was no longer in their system.

ECFR Can't get here soon enough for me. I'm so addicted to riding good roads, that the poor little scooter sits alot when I'm home.
Made my reservation (actually just confirmed it) last week. Depending on what Jeff gets accomplished I may or may not need the cabin, may be able to bring my camper.
We're going on Saturday to get fork seals for the FJ and yes I remember get ORIGINAL Yamaha fork seals.
We'll be up there no later than Monday afternoon I think. May be even earlier.

sounds great. not sure when I will be down, but I plan to make it for at least a few days. Thanks.
I should be there sometime Monday - depends on my mood. :) I'm leaving Chicagoland early Saturday, and making a no-plans, no-reservations trip. Not my usual anal-retentive Red Roof Inn tour.
Rossi
sounds great, rock. we've missed your presence at the rallies.
I have a favor to ask anyone coming from the Batavia, IL area. The SO has been given a fairing for his sabre and is trying to be frugal and see if someone can ferry it down to us in Tellico. I told him to go ahead and pay UPS to ship, but he's trying to save $$.
Thanks in advance if anyone can help.
NancyK
Normally, I'd be happy to. I'm reeeeaal close to Batavia...but I'm riding the WeeNabago down to Tellico. I carry a lot of crap but I'm no Naramore. I could pick it up and hang on to it if the seller needs it out of his way, though.
Rossi
...or, pick it up and ship it for you; there's a UPS Store right at the entrance to my subdivision.
OTOH, if it's the bikini-style fairing I could probably cart it along. If it's a full fairing, that wouldn't be possible.

It's a fairing for the front of a '84ish Honda Sabre...so kind of big I think. I'll try and take a pic of it or find one online, but ya'll know what one looks like. I'll tell him what options he has.
Thanks ya'll.....Tellico is SOON!
I just ordered fork seals (yep genuine Yamaha) and some parts for my dirt bike....

OK, throwing out a line here to see what peoples think... who is up for a rock concert and/or jam session(s) at Tellico? We need brave souls that are willing to sing into a mic. Classic favorites that you know & love from... Grand Funk, BTO, Tom Petty, etc... we only know about 10 songs, and "the wives" are our vocalists here at home but they aren't coming. We pretty much suck but we're getting better and its a whole lotta fun. Larry plays guitar, Mike is on bass, and of course me on the drums.
rule # 1 : no lame ass country , kumbaya, or anything thats too dangerously close to drunken-biker-trash-southern-rock.
we will supply the PA, but we need peoples that will sing, loud & proud, and its perfectly OK if you suck... like rock band/karaoke only for real.
...thoughts? :bomb:
Hmmm....I guess that leaves my banjo out of the mix. And no I ain't singing....just ask Jeff why :)
FREEBIRD!!!!!!!!
Actually, I think Dean would prefer a James Taylor solo on the guitar. Something like "Fire and Rain" would fit right in.
DavidR.
ugh. as much as i respect good old jt, there ain't no "fire and rain" being played at an fj rally. you can play all the foo fighters you want, but none of that kumbaya stuff at a rally. unless randy let me be his friend again. HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH! <"reunited and it feels so good..."> HAHAHAHAHHAHAAH!
What a hoot! Be sure to get some YouTube clips of the performances. Sorry to miss it, though I wouldn't be strapping my strat and amp to the FJ even if I could get there this fall.
taking requests?
bad motor scooter.
got to get a video of that.
Only a week out from leaving. Well maybe a couple of extra days....I know the SO would like to leave on Saturday, but I have some things that need to be done first. So we'll probably leave late Saturday and drive awhile and stop. Then drive on up on Sunday.

is that so you have time to drive to the bakery and buy the rum cake? ( :
Dean, Dean, you cut me to the core! I would NEVER drive to the bakery and buy my rum cake. You know I make it from scratch! In fact, this year, I have a camping oven....so I can bake all kinds of goodies. Can't wait to try it out.
This time next Saturday we'll hopefully be somewhere in GA on our way up.

Alright well the jam thing is not gonna happen. Larry thinks hes not good enough to perform in public. However, he thinks he knows someone who is, and he's bringing him to the rally. A country-western-acoustic-guitar-wielding-Harley-riding-Texan.
Yay :ireful:
Would that be a first Harley at a Rally?
Just askin.

We've never had one at any of the West Coast Rallies. Metric cruisers; yes.

No, there was one a couple years ago... but that don't matter.
You can fuck my (x) wife, steal my money.. whatever, but you don't fuck with my FJ Rally.
What kind of colossal dumbass sells his bike 2 weeks before the rally?

YOU WHAT!
Um....too bad the deal didn't go thru with Jeff on Sunday. He was looking at a '84 FJ1100 that was really nice. We would have had a spare bike. But he had to go and fix the bike, now the owner doesn't want to sell it.
Find another one QUICK!

I know, right? What a stoopit thing to do!
Its a good thing, and I'm happy with how its worked out thus far. I will be back riding again for dang sure. If all goes right, maybe even before the rally. If not, that's cool too.

Stu,
When you get back to riding what do you think you will be on?? Just curious as to what your next ride might be.

ok the rock jam is back on again :flag_of_truce:
Fred will be leaving with the truck on friday so the gig'll be available mon-thurs.
something tells me Nancy has some Stevie or Janis in there somewhere :yahoo:
Stu, I'll have a second bike at the rally - you can ride either of them.
We had an amazing ride on Labor Day, and Andrew is psyched to be coming to another ECFR. If he won't willingly give up the Little Ninja, I'll make the FJ available. But if someone is bringing a guitar, I bet we can distract him long enough to get in a good ride on the Ninja.
We should be just getting there about this time next week. (I'm psyched too - I think I've been waiting for this day since about the first FJ rally!)

Get a ride on a lil' Ninja if you can. It's more fun (and competent) that you probably expect. I was on and off my little 250 -between that and the GSXR750, on our most recent trip to the Adirondacks. I showed an indicated 115 for extended periods of time on the PA turnpike, it'll do it for hours (probably actually closer to 105 mph, but still...). In the tight technical corners, a good rider who understands conservation of momentum, and throttle management, could EASILY embarrass the hell out of a mediocre rider on ANY other bike including the mighty FJ at more than 4 times the dispalcement. While I guess that's a true statement of just about any bike, that the rider matters more than the bike especially in the tight stuff, it still always surprises me when I experience it in practice.

Well I hate to be saying this but Michelle and I won't be making it to the Fall Rally. Since I wasn't able to make the Spring rally I really wanted to make it to the Fall rally. But Michelle and I have been trying to figure out the best way for us to do motorcycle camping with the FJR. We tried doing it with just a tent, air matress, pillows and sleeping bags but that really wasn't enough. So we decided to buy one of these

So I wanted to take our new motorcyle camper and make our way down to Tellico and see my FJ family but Michelle doesn't feel she is up to riding the bike that far even if we did it in a couple days. So we decided to keep our vacation more local and tour NY,VT,NH and Maine. So because of that I will be coming to the 2011 ECSR for sure. So I send my best wishing to everyone attending the Fall rally and hope everyone stays safe and has a great time.
Eric N
I used to pull something similar to that with my Goldwing, both sides of mine flipped out. I thanked goodness for it the year I went to the NC Rally in Cherokee....that was the year that Hugo hit SC. I woke up in Cherokee with about 3 inches of water under my camper....I was happy to be sleeping off the ground. You'll enjoy it!

By the time you read this I will have missed ECFR!
Got all the parts I needed, Thursday before the event with no time to get it together. Still, when I got the bike I only had 2 weeks to find the wrongs and get it going and dialed in before the ECFR.
All is well though, I'm using the weekend to fix the oldie up right!
John/Splash
It seems I missed the fall rally by a week. I picked up my bike in Knoxville and rode back down to Atlanta Friday/Saturday. The roads up there are AMAZING.
