Recently picked up a 84 fj1100 for $30. Was in a scrap yard pile! It has been sitting for quite some time. Cluster reads 16xxx. Got it running no issues there. When try to shift into first or second will not go. Its almost like its locked up in the trans. Goes into 3rd 4th and 5th no problem. Looking for where to start and what to look for. This is my first FJ. Ive owned other bikes just not familiar with these.
Kinda tricky to shift from 3rd to 1st, innit? So the box can't go below 3rd? Does it grind or simply not click down?
Sounds academic really, something is borked in the trans. Be it a fork or a gear pair or whatever, you'll have to open it to find out, figure out what's buggered, and go from there.
What I was affraid off. I havn't tried riding it. Anywhere to get replacement parts.
