Post by: islandbum on July 12, 2010, 03:16:45 AM
Hi Folks
i have access to some TRX calipers  for the right price ....
will i be wasting my time or are these a reasonable upgrade to the 86 FJ braking system...

Looks like a waste of time to me.  They appear to be the same style caliper (read: not monobloc) that the FJ already has.

I think the bolt pattern is wrong. I may be wrong, but pretty sure the 16" wheel equipped FJ's had a different caliper bolt pattern than the later bikes.

If it would bolt up it would definately be an improvement over the stock 86 parts, but you could do better.

from 84 to 87 the forks were different, so they wont bolt up, unless you upgrade to 88 onwards , i know this because ive just upgrade my brakes with blue dots, seems trx cailpers would be a waste of time, if iam honest , not a major upgrade really..
