Title: New Member, 1986 FJ
Post by: DKzar on July 07, 2010, 02:28:24 PM
Hello all,  I found this board a couple of days ago and am really impressed.

I have owned my 86 FJ for 24 years and love this bike.  I have looked at other bikes over the last couple of years, ST's, R1's, GSXR's, FZ1's etc.  Never found anything that I thought could take the place of the FJ.

I usually start looking when it comes time to put new rubber on her, but now that I am aware of the modification to 17" rims I think I will look in that direction.

Great board with fantastic information.  Glad to see there is still a lot of interest in this bike.

Welcome to the group Don,

We all have been thru the same thing as you mention.... the FJ is not great at any one thing but it can be really good at many things.....New bikes today have become so compartmentalized they excel in one thing and are only so-so in everything else.

with a few mods you can make the FJ what you want it to be and enjoy riding the bike you love all over again.

KOokaloo!

Don , welcome to the group.

another 86 is always a good thing.

check out the mods section and make that fj into a sure footed beast.
