Title: Carb jetting -air jets?
Post by: Karl321 on April 05, 2026, 09:07:36 PM
When we re-jet our carbs for intake and exhaust mods, we discuss changes to the pilot, the main, and the needle height. But I don't usually see any recommendations to change the stock #155 air jets.

I have a new project bike, a 1992 FJ1200 with 4 into 1 Vance & Hines pipes and pods. I bought it not running. The PO had 37.5 stock pilots, 118 mains, and 144 air jets.

I'm was planning to put in 42.5 pilots and sticking with the 118 mains for starters. Then I realized the air jets weren't stock. How will the 144 air jets affect this setup?

Is changing the stock air jets from 155 to 144 similar to changing the pilot jets from 37.5 to 42.5?
