The Gen 4 non abs FJ's ('91-92) are the best of the bunch for sport touring.

I hope someone buys this beauty!

I'd probably disagree Pat.....but they're definitely the best for pure touring.

The more basic front forks, steel swinging arm and heavier frame, all detract from it's sports touring capabilities compared to the 3CV model, but the reduced vibration, wider/taller fairing and larger screen all add to the touring comfort of the Gen 4, 3XW model.

I'd go with the Gen 3 (3CV) as the best sports touring FJ, but the Gen 4 (3XW) as clearly the best pure touring FJ model. :good2:

Good points Dean...
My thoughts were that *all* FJ's need upgrades in the suspension (forks and shock) area and modern 17" tires...as a minimum.
Once those improvements are completed on both the Gen 3 (3CV) and Gen 4 (3XW) the Gen 3 advantages (you mentioned) disappear and I believe the sport tour advantage is with the slightly larger fairing and the smooth rubber mounted engine on the Gen 4.

However, your point, '92 (3XW) oem  vs '89 (3CV) oem the earlier Gen 3's 3CV's are more sporty, true dat....
