Was riding hard, slipped out of gear and then was having trouble shifting down.
Opened her up and found that this little spring has twisted itself and was no longer holding the..... CRAB like thing that moves the shift cam.. In the center
Seemed like a common part, so ordered a similar replacement online and works!!

Just sharing in case someone has shifting issues
Should have taken the pic with the old spring on there....
Was a bit of a puzzle/trick to get the new spring on. (kind of like putting a key into a keyring)
Funny enough I had never seen this issue before.
Ron oort has an FJ that was having issues between first and second and not being able to get into neutral. He brought it down yesterday to see if we could spot a problem.
Sure enough, it was this spring. I didn't have one sitting on the shelf and he rode his bike down and needed to ride it back home. So I put the spring back on and problem fixed. He is back on the ride. I did have a new XJR shift shaft, which is longer and after putting the spring back in place checked the tension, it felt the same. So put it all back together and he rode it home.
Will have to wait for his report if just winding it back on is a long term fix or if it will need the new spring. For only $3 plus shipping I would have normally just changed it but it felt good.
That spring was my culprit for slipping out of gear at 2nd on decel. Thankfully I was able to pull one from the spare motor I have, therefore I never looked into sourcing a replacement.
Btw, the spring I sourced was from the xjr1300 5UX parts list. Great that's still available.
Btw, I checked the wire thickness was about 1mm for the new spring whereas the spring I removed was 0.8mm wire thickness. Thicker is better i guess.
Thanks Abhi! This info. is much appreciated 👍🏻
Cheers
