Title: New FJ Owner
Post by: FJNate on April 03, 2025, 04:48:35 PM
Hi everyone,

I wanted to introduce myself, my name is Nate, I'm 25, and I'm in central Midwest USA. My first bike was a 1980 KZ750 (twin) and I've also got a basketcase 1972 CB450, that I've slowly been building on. I love classic motorcycles (and importantly, working on them) and I was thrilled at the oppertunity to buy an FJ. I picked up a non-running (stock) 1989 3CV in shiny black and gold last fall. I have since got it running and I have been slowly chipping away at fixing issues and mods/upgrading it. I still have quite a bit of work to do, but I'm getting closer and closer to being completed. Once I'm done and have the bike back together, I'll post some pictures.

I wanted to say thank you to everyone here for all of the information. It's been super helpful and honestly, I wouldn't be as far as I am without it. I hope to meet some fellow FJ owners this year.

I wanted to introduce myself, my name is Nate, I'm 26, and I'm in central Midwest USA. Welcome and the answer for any and every question regarding these bikes can be found here.

Great bikes, 1989 arguable to best of the breed.

Welcome.  I'm a Midwesterner? Too. Central Wisconsin.  I  have an 89 too. 3 or 4 86s, 2 84s, 1 87. I'm kinda partial to the 86s. My first fj was the 2nd 86 in Wisconsin put 14,000 miles on it in 2 1/2 months. And totaled it out when a guy crashed in front of me in a corner. Went off to own many different bikes. And came back to FJ's.  Where are you located. If you're close enough. I could show you what people from Illinois call the mini dragon up here in wisconsin. Or just ride the kettles here buy my house. Or we could go to the real Dragon.

Aaaah yes, the '89's are special, especially the FJ's in the "theft resistant" white color...

I wonder how Simi Ed is doing....

Welcome Nate!

G'day and Welcome Nate

Sounds like you're very handy with bikes and have a great workshop with space.

Good luck with the FJ and don't forget those pictures  :good:

Welcome to the forum  :hi:
I also have a 1989. Not quite the same as yours. Mine has been built as a Streetfighter.

I am also in the Midwest. South Central Kansas. There is a Rally the 1st weekend of May with the MSTA in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Your FJ would fit right in.
