I got that 84 fj1100 with 4800 miles on it for free a couple of years ago. Then I went to OKC to help my brother instal his solar panels. In June. The morning I was leaving my brother said. Why don't you load that up and take it with you. Pointing to the 86 fj1200. That he had purchased so he and his son could get it running. Then his son told him he didn't want to ride motorcycles.
I finally coordinated going to get the 84 fj1100 that Bruce Jarvis had offered up last fall. From Nashville back to Wisconsin. I worked 12hs. Then slept 6 hrs got up and left a little after 5 pm. He lives in a sailboat in a marina by nashville during the week. While he's working. Then drives home 6hrs and lives in the mountains on the weekends.
Anyway I was supposed to meet him in the marina parking lot at 7am so we could transfer it from his truck to mine before he went to work. I was thinking that I would loose an hour because of time change. Nope. I made really good time vrs 10 1/2hr drive time via maps. Got there 4:05am. Luckily Bruce sent me a text 6:15am asking how it was going. I replied I'm sitting in the parking lot next to your truck. He came out. And we transferred it from his truck to mine. Super nice guy. He went to work. I stopped at a small local restaurant and ate breakfast. As soon as I got to the end of the on ramp on I40. Traffic came to a stop all 4 lanes on my side of the highway stopped. 2hrs and 7 miles later. I got out of this one. I hit 4 more stop and go Traffic Jams. 1 was for 9.8 miles. The last one was for 19.9 miles. In downtown Chicago. The worst traffic of my entire life. And it went on all day. I was gone from my house 28hrs. After sleeping for 6.
The bike was given to him by his friend who was in the military. After storing it for for years. He decided he was going to go through it and restore it. He started to do it. And asked his buddy for the title. Nope, he had lost it. So it had sat in Bruce's shop. For years. Then his wife told him he needed to throw it out.
He had purchased a brand new NOS seat and zero gravity windscreen. Both in original packaging. When he and his wife were on vacation in Sacramento. And they stopped in a small bike shop there. They had them on a shelf. And he had the carbs rebuilt already. The tank is cosmetically a little rougher than the one on the fj1100 that only has 4800miles on it. But it looks brand new inside. And the other one looks pretty. But it has pinholes in it. Same with the upper fairing the one looks pretty but has a corner that is broken off. This one needs polishing up. But is 100% un broken. The bike is 100% complete. Bruce said it ran great when they parked it in his shop. But he tore it down to go through it.
Pics. I can't figure out how to get pictures on this new forum.

I couldn't work it out either. I ended up adding a picture to the gallery then linking to that.
I'm not sure i could cope with that level of traffic :hang1:
For pics, click the PREVIEW button.
It then lets you drag and drop or select pics to insert.preview button.JPGinsert.JPG
Annoyingly it wants you to set the size. I ignore this and just click insert.

However, it is probably quicker and easier to add to the gallery and copy a link. I haven't tried that but probably will.
