Greetings all,
I was wondering if anyone has found a throttle lock that works well.
Thanks
Craig
A lot of people really like the ThrottleMeister:

This is a bar end throttle lock. I've only ridden a bike or two with them for a short period of time - so I could never get used to them - but some swear by them.
Personally, I have a cheap VistaCruise that I love and it works VERY well for me:

+1 on the vista cruise.... easy to operate and totally functional for a reasonable price.
Kookaloo!

I could never get the VistaCruise adjusted to the point where it wouldn't bind the throttle when "off", yet would lock the throttle when "on" - it would slowly creep closed again. The ThrottleMeister is out of my price range. I finally went with a CrampBuster on both the FJ and the WeeStrom. It's not a throttle lock, but it works well for me (and it's cheap...).

+1 on the throttlemeister, takes some time to get used to its use but after a trip or two it becomes a bit easier. Its not perfect but its drop dead sexy....roflmao. I sure wish it had been on the bike out west last year.. 4,200 miles in 12 days.. oh well enjoy what ever you end up with.

Manic Salamander (http://www.manicsalamander.com/application_finder.htm (http://www.manicsalamander.com/application_finder.htm)) makes a very nice throttle lock. It works like the throttlemeister. Having used both on other people's bikes I think the Manic Salamander models work better. Plus they're quite a bit cheaper when you compare their heavy version (smooth city pounder) to throttlemeister's. Which is why I'm ordering one next week.
the price looks great, plus more options to choose from. and it sounds like they do custom work :good2:
i may have to order a set too :scratch_one-s_head:
Has anyone tried using an o-ring for a throttle lock? I've been meaning to try this, just havn't gotten around to it. Heap cheap.
This picture is off an ATV forum---not sure that part # / size O-ring mentioned will be correct for the FJ--but I would assume it is.

Simple as that. Roll it back onto the bar end when you don't want to use it.
8M4991 is the Caterpillar part number.
Used to use a lock sometime a go but found it needed to be adjusted all the time to hold road speed. My speed would creep up or down costing me time or fines on long trips.. So one of the best farkles I have fitted is a cruise control.. http://home.mysoul.com.au/rover/page05.htm (http://home.mysoul.com.au/rover/page05.htm)
The css-100 is no longer available I understand but Murphys carry a full electronic one now..

Cheers..
isn't this a picture of a throttle lock with an o-ring?
most of the salamander prices i was seeing was just bar ends,
their throttle locks aren't much cheaper than the ThrottleMeister

+1 for the vista cruise. I found that it had to be mounted perfectly straight to work its best and keep from binding. Works great for me.
I can't get a Vistacruise to work either. It always binds against the grip on every bike I tried it on. However, I did use the thumb lock lever thingy and duplicated the rest (more or less) out of 18 ga. steel. Works ok.
since not all injection molded piece are the same i found a good technique for getting the vista cruise to work properly..... just wrap some sandpaper (i used emory cloth) around the throttle tube and work the vista cruise around until it takes the same shape as the throttle tube.
holds great and no binding.
KOokaloo!
Throttlemeister for me... works great and really finishes off the look of the bike. A little tricky to get the hang of but once you get used to it, you'll love it.
+another for Vista Cruise. Simple, mine needed just a bit of tweaking (just picky )
