Title: vVIN numbers breakdown
Post by: Moraysan on June 30, 2024, 04:42:25 PM
Hi, I've been trying to find details of my new bike based on the VIN number, however I cannot find it anywhere. I have searched this forum and found the entry which states it is a comprehensive list...

https://fjowners.com/index.php?topic=13764.0

However it does not cover my bike which is 36Y012672

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Sparky84, thanks for the welcome and reply. Yes, it's an '85. It should be arriving this Saturday morning. It's been the longest week waiting!!!
I'll see what else I can discover when it arrives.

G'day Moraysan,

Yours might be in the 2nd 36Y production run. 7000ish 36Y 11's were produced in 85.

If your engine number is *36Y012672* then it is assembled in (I think) Holland. The * before and after denotes a bike assembled in Europe.

Also, I've mainly seen your colour scheme out of Europe, so it might be an import.

Is it possible the number is actually 36Y0012672?
