Title: Replacing the Fuel Pump
Post by: !1Diesel on June 10, 2024, 08:37:48 AM
Hi, where is the fuel pump located. How do I access it? How hard is it to replace. I probably need new hoses. What size are they? Thanks 😊

1) Under the right side panel

2) Remove the right side panel

3) Pretty easy. A bolt, two clamps and a electrical plug.

4) Specific formed fuel hoses, usually do not require replacement. These formed hoses are discontinued items.

Don't skimp on a cheap pump, they don't live very long. Several have experienced this and have been left stranded in the side of the road. Pat should chime in shortly.

The original pump has lasted for more than 30 years, the new genuine Yamaha pump will most likely out live the remaining life of fhe bike.

That is why we only offer the Yamaha fuel pump.

Yea....That was a painful lesson learned... an $80 Chinese FleaBay fuel pump with a "lifetime guarantee" means absolutely squat when it fails at the top of Sonora Pass.

In fairness, Randy did try and warn me, but I didn't listen. Buy oem Yamaha.

Cheers
