Title: 2024 Ozark Escape
Post by: aviationfred on May 06, 2024, 07:39:07 PM
This past weekend was So very much needed. I had gone nearly a month without riding since my accident. I did a few 3 mile rides over to the garage and back to the house on the Interceptor 500. A week ago today, I rode the little 500 the 25 miles to work. Everything felt good. Knowing that I am not fully healed... I decided to trailer the Honda 500 the 300 miles to Eureka Springs, Arkansas. My Daughter was not happy with my choice, (no topbox/backrest). Yes, we were going to do a Rally, 2up on a 40 year old Interceptor 500 and 5 weeks after breaking 5 ribs and a shoulderblade.:wacko2:  :dance2:

Friday was a ride South down AR23 to the Turnerbend Outfitter store. Then over to the Oark Cafe for lunch. We did a county road that LOOKED sketchy, but actually was OK. We picked up AR21 and ran that all the way up to Hwy62 and back to Eureka Springs. 187 miles for the day. The 500 handled the 2up duties very well. I on the other hand was extremely sore.

Saturday, we did a Northerly route that took us into Southwest Missouri. We meandered around the North side of Tablerock Lake and skirted just Sout of Branson. Up til then, the riding was good, but not spectacular. Now we picked up US160. The stretch between Foresyth and Hwy125 is one of my favorite sections of road in the whole country. Serious blind corners, very apprehensive blind crests. Enough to give a Newby rider the Willys. We stopped at the Dinner Bell for lunch and then on to the Peel Ferry for a trip across Bull Shoals Lake. We picked up the shortcut AR268 to AR14 which took us out to US65. We jumped of on MO86 back to AR23. A short detour to Beaver, Arkansas and the single lane, wooden track, steel cable suspension bridge. Often called The Little Golden Gate Bridge. Then we made our way back to Eureka Springs with a bit of rain. We did right at 200 miles for the day. Again, I was very sore for the evening.

I said that I was sore at the end of the day....... Trust me when I say my hip was f*****g hurting.
I go into the Orthopedic hip specialist in the morning to investigate a possible bone chip in my hip and why is it still really swollen.
