Howdy everyone, my name is Carl and I've been riding motorcycles since 2017 and I've had my FJ since 2019.
So I'm from SE Wyoming and I seen some FJ's parked out front at my work this week and got talking and come to find out I met Pat, one of the mods here, and he suggested I make an account over here as I've been fighting a issue on my 89 FJ1200 3CV.
I'm looking forward to do some reading on what you all have done to your FJ's

Hi Carl, welcome to the forum. It was great meeting you the other day. My buddy Paul Lawson and I are on a 4k mile tour...we started at my house in Sedona AZ and are hitting Utah, Wyoming, South and North Dakota, Montana, Colorado, as we say around here, Have FJ, will travel.

Yeah I am taking a ganders through the forum as we speak and I am already catching a few pointers on maintenance items I am going to address as I hunt for a CDI for my FJ. Guess the coils won't work if they aren't being told to do what to do, LOL.
It's been a few years since I've posted in any forums, where would you suggest I put a thread on my FJ and share the adventures I've done?
Also thanks for the reminder on the shims, I will be investing in them here shortly .

I'm not gonna lie, it was my boss in the shop I work at that commented on the FJ's out at the gas pumps that got me walking over and asking about them. lol
It's not everyday you see these bikes out and about.
Also Pat, how was the ride with 25+mph West winds on your ride through? It only got worse as the day went on. I was thinking about you guys periodically throughout the day

Hey Carl, yea, that wind made for a long long day. We also had a cold wet ride on Hwy 2 from Williston to Havre, but yesterday's ride from Havre to Livingston thru the Lewis & Clark National Forest was glorious. We are now in Livingston Wy planned a route thru Jellystone down to Jackson Hole but it's snowing so we are detoured east to Riverton. Looking forward to getting south down to Utah for warmer temps. I live in Kansas and a 25 mph wind is considered only a breeze here :sarcastic:
Seriously... the FJ handles fairly well in a crosswind. A good grip on the bars and a bit of counter steering solves the problem. I wear out handgrips in a few years, where as normal wear is a decade or more.

Hey Pat, your whole route is my favourite part of the USA, spent 3 weeks there about 15 years ago and covered around 3,500 miles.
Flew in Denver, took the scenic route up to the Black Hills (Sturgis, Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, stayed in Custer SD) then over to Sheridan, through the Long Horn mntns, to Yellowstone, up into Montana for some horse riding then down to Moab (for some time out on the Slick Rock and a few tourist points, Dead Horse Point, Canyonlands etc) via Jackson Hole. After that we did some touring around (Mesa Verde, Painted Desert, Four Courners, Grand Canyon, Mexican Hat, Bryce Canyon, Zion Natl Pk) on the way to a final few days in Vegas before the flight home. Best holiday of my life.
If I'd known you and that you lived in Sedona when we stayed in Williams AZ, I would definitely have made the journey to visit !
I wasn't in Sedona when you were here... I just moved 3 years ago.
Stop in next time you're in the states Dean. I have an extra FJ you can ride.
