Title: Exhaust in progress
Post by: joebloggs on October 17, 2023, 07:01:29 AM
Mock up of the exhaust, would have been the finished article if the exhaust company actually fabricated what I wanted. I asked for a 20mm mandrel bend in a 60mm pipe, what I got was a bent 50mm tube expanded to 60mm, needless to say I got a refund.

Have ordered the bends now so they can stitch them all together, and at least my measurements were correct.

Any thoughts on support for your muffler can?

Have you thought about lowering the angle of the muffler to match the angle of the tail section?

Yes to Pat. I remember searching the undergrowth on a rally run , looking for Alan's Kerker can. Never found it.
Yes to fj1289, I think a bend to line up with the tail section would look extra boss.

Not yet, once I get the can in place I'll sit and stare at it for an hour or two and mount it in my head until I come up with something that works for me.

I do a lot of staring.

I get what you're getting at but if anything it'll be lifted further and match the angle of the lower subframe rail.

Main reason, I'd need an overly long exhaust hanger unless I welded the pipe and somehow supported it beneath the engine or frame.

I also like the idea of tucking the pipe in as close to the swingarm as possible, this would be difficult if the can was lower as I'd have to mount it further out to clear the arm.

Do you think something along these lines would be suitable?

Andy

You made a valiant effort!
I am grateful you braved the slope-angle, and the vegetation to look for it..........
At least you guys knew EXACTLY where I was in the Canyon on the ride back to the KOA  :sarcastic:
