Title: FJ1100 1985 broken speedometer
Post by: Niklassweden on August 02, 2023, 12:22:14 PM
Hi! My speedometer starting to sound wierd when riding, then suddenly stopped working. The cable is ok, its ok Down by the tire, someone else had same problem? Guessing that something broke inside the speedometer. A new one is pretty expensive, is there a possibility to change just the speedo gauge or renovate it?

// Niklas from Sweden.

 Looks like we need Fred and his Speed Hut knowledge for the GPS speedo upgrade. Here in the USA we might still have a few shops that repair the old bike stuff. https://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=17742.0 (https://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=17742.0)

You have experience the FJ Death Howl. Usually it will last for a few months. Usually gets worse in cold temperatures.

I am a diehard Speed Hut gauge fan. They offer a GPS units and electronic programmable units. My experience is with the GPS units.

If you decide to go this route. There are a few things to know before placing an order.
1. 3 3/38 dia. Is what you need.
2. Request 'No front soft button'.
3. Customize the gauge with the 'Legacy' bezel
4. The White instrument housing will need to have internal supports and light bulb shields removed.

Here Is a photo post from a few years ago that shows a Speed Hut gauge install.
