Title: Can-Am LED Light Kit
Post by: FJ1200W on September 02, 2022, 08:28:22 PM
Any thoughts on using this on the old FJ?
It seems to almost be too good to be true.
Nearly bolt on plug and play?

Are the mounting bracket's aluminum? They look close to the #1 and #4 header tubes.

That's my concern as well
They're delrin or some other strong modern thermoplastic material, I'll try and find out which one.
On a side note, the ceramic coating on the headers, within moments of stopping, you can touch the pipes.
It's bizarre how well it works.
My theory was the cooler header pipes would allow cooler air to reach the engine.
That heat has to be going somewhere, my theory might not be accurate.

FJ1200W,

In my experience, a layer of aluminum foil will reflect a lot of heat from what you want to keep cool.  For a trial, I would just wrap the plastic parts with aluminum foil, crushed to fit.  Leave the plastic parts touching the fall bars in direct contact with the bars, with no foil there.  If you like the results, you can do a smooth installation of a new foil layer onto the plastic brackets, using a thin layer of household glue to seal the aluminum foil to the plastic.  It can look almost like you had the plastic brackets chromed, when finished.
