A good ride out to Cassoday this morning. My friend Dale rode his FJ1200 while i had my 1st ride out of town on the 1996 VFR750. A pair of Vintage British bikes were there. An old Yamaha from the same time period and a new Italian looked like it would be a blast to ride.
A bit of back story on this VFR750.
I was perfectly content with my three FJ1200's and two VFR's. I was contacted out of the blue by a stranger wanting to know if I would be interested in purchasing his Non-running 1996 VFR750. He had owned it for 2 years, had the carbs off 3 separate times and could not get it running. The offer was... As is for $800.00. I committed to come look at it. I was blown away at how clean the bike was.... 20,000 miles and looked like it came from Honda yesterday. Got the bike home to discover that it had tires with a date stamp of 26/00... OMG, 22 year old tires. I put a set of good tires on and started troubleshooting the carbs. A simple adjustment item was way out. The idle was set to absolute zero. I set the idle correctly and the bike now runs like a champ.
