Welcome Rob.  Someone in this group has done every service, repair or modification possible,  so search the archives or ask questions and all will be revealed. :drinks:

ecuadorbob,

Welcome to the forum!  Pull up a seat, and relax here.

That is very low usage, for a '93.  Lucky find!  Many of the upgrades we do, Yamaha has done already there.

If the bike has old fuel in the tank, siphon the tank dry, and add fresh fuel.  You can use that old fuel in a car, because it will mix with the other gas in the big tank.  For any bike, especially one with carburetors, I suggest running a can of carb/injector cleaner in the gas tank, mixed to label specs, every now and then.  Check the fuel filter for rust from the gas, and have extra fuel filters on hand for now.  Ethanol gas can separate badly during storage.  If you want to run non-ethanol gasoline in the bike, you can find it here:

www.pure-gas.org   (http://www.pure-gas.org)

RPM (the top sponsor here) has a lot of specialized FJ parts on hand.  I have their spin-on oil filter adapter, so my bike uses conventional off-the-shelf oil filters (cans) instead of the Yamaha pieces.

I think you will enjoy your ride!

Welcome Bob, such a low mileage machine. And you have the smoother rubber mounted engine. Enjoy the banter and campfire talk while you learn up on the mods you can do....

Here she is, very happy with it, have not been on bikes much in the past 20 years as my wife was not crazy about riding but unfortunately my wife passed just before the holidays and now it's the only thing keeping me sane, got the trident first and love it but the FJ is what i am most used too and enjoy switching them up. thanks again
