Title: Blind Lizard picnic.
Post by: Ted Schefelbein on June 19, 2022, 03:43:27 PM
For close to 50 years, the Blind Lizard picnic has been a feature on Father's Day, on Nicollet Island, in Minneapolis. The event features motorcycles, and bicycles, mostly older versions of either, but, everything is welcome. The original founders have mostly passed, save one, who was there, and the torch passed to new believers. Lunch was charcoal grilled brats, potato salad and beer, gratis, a donation is suggested, but, not required.
It was near 100 degrees. My son and I rode a 33 year old FJ1200, sadly, the only one I saw. Many antique and unique motorcycles and bicycles. Usually, we bring bicycles to the event, as a family, either older English three speeds (I'm a member of the local English bicycle club) but, I have a 1941 Colson Scout that has been there, as well.
It was a great Father's Day. My boy, age 15, on the FJ. Previous year group shot, with bicycles on the left. Great fun no matter what you ride

Your son looks ready to ride . Time to get him a dirt bike if you haven't already.

We have been trying. There isn't much out there. There was a dandy FT500 for sale at the picnic, alongside an SR500, also for sale, but, we missed it.
