This year I picked my 3VC as my winter project (yea I *may* have a problem with multiple bikes) and among other suspension improvements I decided to upgrade the wheels to 17x5 in back & 17x3.5 in front. Last year this bike was also my winter project but the focus was bringing it back from the dead as it had sat for a long time. The bike had proven itself last summer with lots of dependable rides and since the bike was free (you read that right), I don't mind investing some money, however I still have a budget to work with.
The spacers and cush drive bits are off to the machinist so I have time to clean up the wheels and since the front and back are different shades of silver I've been considering what colors to paint them. Do I paint one and to try and match the other or paint them both? Eh, paint is cheap and I want them to match so both it is. For colors I considered black, white, red, silver, grey, magnesium, titanium... I settled on Rust-Oleum 283786 Graphite Peel Spray Coating and share my experience. As a bonus if I get sick of the color I can always peel it right off.

**Disclaimer** I've had good luck with Plasti-Dip rubberized paint on car rims but time will tell how durable and how the longevity is on motorcycle rims.
I decided to paint the rims after the new Metzeler Z8s are mounted but before I set the bead, that way I won't muck up the paint on the edge of the rim. The Rust-Oleum goes on over regular rubberized paint so two coats of black Plasti-Dip went on followed by two coats of 283786 Graphite. I must say this $h!t lays on flat and smooth!
More pics to follow when I have both rims painted and mounted.

Hi Ted,
I'm from Hopkins originally but now reside near Owatonna which is about an hour south of the metro off I35. I purchased the tires from https://www.denniskirk.com/motorcycle/tires (https://www.denniskirk.com/motorcycle/tires) (I bought their last 170/60/17 Metzeler Z8!) which might be close to you. Shipping was free so that might not matter :-).
