Title: I can't unscrew one nut from the forward cylinder
Post by: MrOT1 on November 02, 2021, 10:41:24 AM
Hi everyone,

I am trying to remove the cylinders, but there is one nut in front that i suspect is preventing me from removing it.

But I can only fit a spanner (flat key) in it as you can see in the photo.

I tried to unjam it, i might have bit turning it from 1mm but that's it

Do you have any solution?
Can i remove the cylinders even with this nut on ?

Thanks!

Yes, the nut has to come off to remove the cylinders. It is not a lock nut so once it is free you should be able to spin it the rest of the way with your fingers. If you need more room remove the oil cooler with the allens in front at the oil pan  and the two 10mm bolts at the top. Then drop the cooler and lines out of the way. There is also an allen holding the lines to the bracket that, that nut is holding on.

Come to think of it, you might not need to remove the cooler completely. Just undo the lines from the pan and pull them out of the way.

MrOT1,

Can't see in the pix, but can you use a thin flat ratchet wrench in there?
Not saying the is the right size of wrench, but maybe the right type.

I remember having a little trouble when i worked on my bike, but don't remember what i used i think it was a little ring spanner with an angle and then a pliers.
If you do It like Robert say you will get more space. Here is a pick from when i replaced the oilcooler on my bike.It is just 2 screws holding the olicooler if you also unscrew the 1 screw
holding the clamp that holds the hoses you will get to it

Hi everyone,

i remove the radiator/air cooler and manage to access the nut and remove it.

it was a pain in the ass to remove the cylinders also but i was so happy  :good2:

other problem now is that I need to change the piston rings, but they are so expensive. In France, around 50€ per set.. if you have any tips to buy them cheaper ?

thanks guys

I don't know if this helps.... but the price is about 10€ less per set from the following website. I don't know how taxes and fees would add up.
