Title: Trip to the UK FJOC Workshop
Post by: Millietant on October 14, 2021, 01:42:42 PM
As the weather was unseasonably mild, sunny and dry today, I decide after lunch to take the FJ on a trip down the Fosse Way, through the Cotswolds, to it's spiritual home........the FJOC workshop - to go and pick up my next lot of Morris "Ringfree" 20w50 mineral oil, a couple of other small parts, some wheel paint and to pick up, after 32 years of riding this bike, a set of Engine Bars ! :good2:  With my left leg/hip issues, I really should have bought a set sooner, but better late than never.

Had a chat and a few cups of tea with Phil and Ernie, watched the first firing up of a "garage find" FJ 1100 that was sat under a cover, untouched for 22 years. The carbs had been cleaned, but that was just about it, and the bike fired up almost instantly.........I love these FJ's All the bodywork was just about pristine and most of the cycle parts will clean up easily. A great find.

Although a plot of the route looks like something Fred would ride from home, it's very deceptive in that its actually a route with LOTS of nice, reasonably fast curves, despite what it looks like. Had a little detour on the way home due to the Fosse being closed at Cirencester, but that just made the ride more enjoyable. Just over 200 miles and 50 mpg, so I guess the plentiful overtaking manoeuvres did have an impact on my fuel consumption, but I'm still perfectly happy with that (nobody came past me over the whole journey).

A perfect afternoon mix of miles, sunshine and motorbike  :good2:
