Title: CDI swap 36Y to 1TX
Post by: jonaf on August 27, 2021, 02:54:20 PM
Will a 1TX CDI unit work in a 1TX without modifying the wiring?

Download the Owners manuals for both models.
Look in the back of each manual, there is a color coded wiring diagram for that model.
Compare the diagrams.

From the wiring diagrams it looks like the coil signals (grey & orange) are connected to the two middle connectors on the 1TX and not the two at the top like it is on the 36Y (pic)?

At a quick glance....On the 6 wire plugs ...the middle pair look ok, but the top and bottom pair look different.

The ignitor box is #28 below.

To make the 1TX igniter work the sidestand signal needs to be emulated. Does the relay give 12V or ground in "on" position?

When the side stand is in the down position (parked) the switch plunger is pushed in and OPENs the circuit.
When the side stand leg is retracted in the up position (riding) the the switch plunger is relaxed and CLOSES the circuit.

If you ever suspect a side stand switch malfunction (happens a lot) you simply unplug both wires going to the switch and jump them together....closing the circuit.
