I got this bike as a project from my neighbors son, bike had 2500 miles on it and it looked rough. I rebuilt the carbs and it runs awesome. How much is motor and harness worth?
Looks to me like the bike has sat outside for 25 years..... the amount of corrosion on the clutch cover and the open throated carbs is not a good sign for the engine.
UV light, and outdoor weather can play havoc on wire harnesses. IMO, this would be a huge gamble as a restoration project.

If you can demonstrate the engine running to a buyer, it might be worth $200-$300 (bearing in mind that decent running FJ's have been bought for $1000 and less by members here).
If not, then it's such a huge gamble with potential parts cost, that it's pretty much worthless.
Unfortunately, the engine is visually awful, which will hurt its value as everyone will wonder if the inside is in a similar state.
Sorry it's not great news, but I'm trying to honest and not "blow smoke".
Guess it's worth it to put in a go kart. :pardon:
I'd agree with Millie - if it ran okay, it should be worth around $ 300 - another $150 or so for the carbs.
I bought an 86 at a garage sale for $200. About the same level on the ugly scale. Sold the motor to a Legends guy and he ran it untouched for 2 years. Might still be going as far as I know. Looks aren't everything. Paint is cheap.

Do you still have this engine?
