Went for another ride this weekend with the sport bike guys. I was doing much better keeping up this time and then... busted throttle cable. I just can't catch a break. Lol.
I've switched the push pull cables to get home.
I had an atv cable break out in the middle of nowhere wrapped it around the screwdriver insert and pulled on it. 20 - 25 miles of trail riding on my warrior. Good times. :good2:
Yep - broke a pull cable on the street bike at the drag strip years ago. Swapped over the push cable and made it home.
I broke a throttle cable on my mono-shock DT175 during an enduro. I was going well up till then. I had a spare taped in place just in case of such an event and swapped it over. From then on, for the rest of the section, the bike would not run properly and I eventually timed out. At the end of the day I went to start it and found the choke was on. Doh.
The great thing about my other bike, a 1981 GN400, is you can reach the throttle on the carb by hand. I've gotten home a couple times with a broken throttle cable by turning up the idle for starts, and working the throttle with my left hand when under way.
