Hello Pat,
Just read this thread. The OEM rear spring diameter on my 89' was 88mm. Probably the same from '88 - 91'. Penske Sport shock is the same dia.
james
Thanks James, I'll add it to the file!

Pat,
Rear OEM Spring Rate for '91-93 FJ1200s is ~700lbs/in. Determined by test on 2 used OEM springs.
Sorry I took so long to reply, I misread your initial request.
Cheers,
Arnie
Thanks Arnie!
I have metric values shown in the table, so help me here, a spring @ 700 lbs/inch would be what, about .806 kg/mm correct?

Do you recall the diameter of the shock spring? Is it 88mm like the earlier FJ's?
Pat,
Took my the spring off my 89 Fj shock to see if would work on a fox shock I'm rebuilding, race tech measured it just shy of 1075#'s. I would think that the '88,89 and 90 FJ would be the same, but the '88 was never sold in the USA.
LA Mike
Thanks Mike, so that would 1075 lbs/inch correct? Which should be about 1.23 kg/mm, I think...

Hmmm, I'm doing something wrong, figures.... So, Mike's 1075 lbs/in would be 19.2 kg/mm ?
Then using Arnie's 700 lbs/in would be what? about 12.5 kg/mm?

When I was out at race tech they told me it was 19.2kg/mm, I just rounded it to 1075lbs/in when I converted it.
To convert kg/mm to lb/in you divide by 0.0179 19.2/0.0179 = 1072.6256lbs/in~1075lbs/in

ok, thanks Mike! See you in Willits.

That is OD. I plan to remove the swing arm from the '85 to check the bearing and lube it. I'll measure the shock while it's apart.
Cool, thanks James!
FYI: I just measured my 89 OEM shock and the Outer diameter of the spring is 88 - 89 mm as well. Oh - and the total shock weight is 7.5 lbs. This will be the same for the 88-90 FJs.
Thanks Marsh. The shock spring inner diameter is needed so folks (who want to) could use a aftermarket spring with their oem shock.
Why you ask? Beats the hell out of me...
