Just a quick question, as i'm steadily going through my FJ12 I keep finding issues, I dropped the oil this week, and upon dropping the oi filter, I noticed that the washer the=at goes between the filter and the spring was missing, i've ordered a replacement from Partzilla but was wondering just how critical it is to have it
Regards

Rob,
Yeah, you want that washer there. I would measure the washer when you get it, or trace around it inside and out, so you can use a common washer there in the future.
Actually, I think the best answer would be to order the Spin-On Oil Filter Adapter from RPM (top banner). Then you can use regular spin-on oil filters on the FJ.
'WAY more bettah. :i_am_so_happy:
.
Yes, listen to Red...Unless you're restoring your FJ to concourse stock, throw that oem oil filter away...
Get a better filter, widely available, with more oil capacity and no more crushed wires and leaky o rings.

You will be so much happier.......really.
Along the the RPM Spin on oil filter adaptor that Pat mentions. I recommend the Magnetic oil filter washer.

Regarding magnets, that is a very good idea. Any strong magnet, or series of magnets, can be stuck to the outside of a spin-on oil filter. Just remember to leave the magnets in place, until the oil filter is removed from the bike, when changing filters. Then the magnets can be transferred to the new oil filter. The best location will be along the lowest part of the oil filter, as installed. Neodymium magnets are the best (strongest). I bought dozens of 3/8" disk magnets for not a lot of money, and I use them in a lot of applications.
