Can't go wrong with that price! Good looking! Must have been super thrilled beyond words.

There is something very special about those '84's
Congrats!
Nice bike. High temps are supposed to be in the low single digits in Minnesota this weekend, I envy anyone who is still riding.
I'll give you double what you paid for it.
Ted
Down here by my brother's house on lake Hartwell Georgia. Was in th upper 50s. His neighbor took us out on his pontoon boat. Beautiful Lake. Heading back to Wisconsin on Tuesday. I just looked supposed to be high of 1f on Monday. Gotta love that global warming.
This bike I might leave stock. Have to fix the important things 17inch front. Brakes and lines, spinon filter. And fix the broken plastic. Think it got broken on removal. When trying to figure out the spark problem.
But the 7900 miles on the speedo is correct.
Beautiful bike Dan. Leave it stock including the 16 inch front tire. Looks to be nicer than either of mine. You really should store it here in Texas with me so you can come down and ride in the winter.

As long as you can still get those bitchen Avon Storm 3D radials, I would leave the 16"ers alone.
Safety wire the petcock.
Do some black Spiegler lines, with good brake pads.
Internal RPM fork valves
A height adjustable (RPM?) shock.
Fatten up the jets, ignition advance, coil and headlight relays.....and call it a day.
Oh, yea, those noisy (wind) Mickey Mouse ear mirrors gotta go....perhaps change those shoe box turn signals?
Wow!
Double wow!

Yes it is a good looking bike. Definitely the best colors out of all of the 1100s.
And yes it is an 84. Jon was thinking it was an 85.
Going to need some work. Putting it back together. And fixing the broken plastic. And still have to find the gremlin that's steeling the spark. But its going to be a beautiful bike. I'm just about done with the house. So I can finally get back to the fun projects. Turbo bike and sled engine in the smart car. Then can get to work on Putting this bike back to her former glory... Only a little bit better.
I'll never be without a project. I've got 12 bikes, a Raptor 700, and a smart car that will eventually have 300ish hp.
Hopefully I can get them all done before I die.

I think we are living by the same creed! Though I am not quite as ambitious with respect to how many projects I've got stacked up.
Well I won some of the unobtainium nos right side fairing protectors. Got up at 4:26 am. To bid on them. Right before the end of the auction in GB. $57+shipping for 2 of them. The 1100 was missing one. And the other one isn't the greatest.
Have you figured out your spark problem yet?

I'm sorry you weren't aware and got up so early.
Dan and anyone else who has the 84/85 FJ1100, RPM has the right side fairing protectors in stock. These are not NOS, I purchased the remaining new Yamaha inventory in the last year or two.
Once these are gone, then all that might turn up will be NOS from dealer inventory. I will say that in the US, active dealer shelves are good of this part.

I wish I had known. There are several of the left ones out there. But not much for the right. Should've thought to look. At RPM first.
Well at least I got them for a good price.

No. Haven't bothered. Jon said the shop had told him that they traced it down to the black box. Jon had already bought one and tried it. And the shop bought another one and tried it. They put different harness on it and still no spark.
I have 2 projects ahead of the 1100. Turbo 1200. And sled motor smart car. Just have little stuff to finish up on the house.

I posted a method to make the TCI produce a spark. In doing so it will prove your ignition switch , kill switch , coils and TCI (black box) are working.. The post was "how to test the TCI on 84-85 FJ1100's ". It only requires an automotive test light , a spark plug and the removal of the seat and left side over. It takes less than ten minutes. On Applejack's post " have to give up " I posted a step by step procedure to check the starter and ignition circuit. When your ready to work on it you should check it out. The manuals don't show a positive method for testing the TCI other than the process of elimination.
Hey Trav, yes, that was an excellent post you made on troubleshooting the TCI.
FYI, I saved it over in the Electrical Files: http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=19679.0 (http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=19679.0)
Thanks for your contribution Travis!
Yes thank you very much I will do that when I get a chance.

Price seems fair, congratulations!
