How similar is the YZF750 arm to the YZF1000 arm?

I'd think it will go in the same as the YZF1000 arm (which goes in the same as the FZ1 arm).  There should be write ups on both of those.

I have the YZF1000 (aka:Thunder Ace) swing arm installed on my '84
Instructions on how to modify the arm so it will fit the frame of the FJ are here:
http://www.fjmods.co.uk/MarcRittner.htm (http://www.fjmods.co.uk/MarcRittner.htm)

I looked up the parts diagram on the 1998 YZF 750 swing arm and I'm not sure the top brace on the 750 swinger will play nice with the FJ's sub frame.

The sub frame is mild steel - pretty safe for cut and weld as required - especially if deleting the passenger pegs and trimming the mounting plates and custom exhaust hangar(s) while providing more clearance...

Chris, perhaps it could fit...after all Tim (axiom-r) got that YZF R-1 swing arm to fit his '92 FJ, but then again, that R-1 swinger has the brace on the underside of the arm.

But nothing else.

Do you already have the swing arm?

What does the swing arm measure across the pivot?  How does that compare to the YZF1000?
How does the diameter of the pivot bearings compare to the YZF1000?  This should tell you if you can modify it the same as the YZF1000 arm.

Do you already have the FJ?
After you modify the swing arm you can see if the bracing will clear the subframe.  If it doesn't you'll just have to figure out what needs to be modified to fit.

Good luck!

Yes, I have yzf750 swingarm and fj1100.

Did swingarm mods in the past. Fitted r1 04-05 swingarm to xjr1300. What i'm looking for is more info regarding shock mount and that area.

On my 1984 1100, when I converted the shock linkage over to the dog bone style I needed to fit the Thunder Ace swinger, I needed the relay arm off the 1989 or 1990 FJ.
The relay arm from the 1991 thru 1995 FJ's won't fit because of the shock off set.
The '89/90 relay arm has no offset...the shock is centered, just what you need to match the upper shock mount on your 1100 frame.

Here are some pictures showing the shock offset difference between the 89/90 relay arm (dark) and the 91/95 arm (silver)

I just put a complete  YZF1000R  Swing Arm ,Wheel ,  Bake Caliper etc   in my 93 FJ1200 ,  I pulled it out  of another Bike I picked up as a parts Bike , it went in real easy , The 93 FJ1200 Swing Arm  that  I removed and the YZF1000R that I put back  in both  measured 250 mm across where they mount into the Bike ,,

I assume the YZF1000R swing arm was already in an FJ parts bike?

Don't want someone reading this to think the YZF1000 swing arm is a bolt-on without having cut it to fit.

Good point Chris. I had to cut down my YZF swing arm to fit my '84
Here is Marc Rittner's formula: http://www.fjmods.co.uk/MarcRittner.htm (http://www.fjmods.co.uk/MarcRittner.htm)
