Dale is trading in his 2000 Vmax 1200 for a 2015 Vmax 1700. He called me yesterday and asked if I would like a spin on the Vmax before it is gone. :music: :gamer: :yahoo: kind of asking a kid if he wants a Hershey bar.
A 75° day with a blue sky was perfect. He got to ride Casper while I rode the Vmax. I even got a short video of the awesome sounding V4 engine.

I want to see a burnout!
A few subtle mods Fred....CF tail, front fender and cover pieces, and what front end is that.....not a VMax original (with USD's and Tokico 6 pots) ?
If you want to make Mr Max into a true all motor high 9 second bike, delete that shaft and add a chain.
Was that in the Taking it to the Nines magazine article?
No, I recall seeing a Drag Bike article several years ago...when the first 1600's came out (09/10?)
The chain/jackshaft/swingarm mod freed up some horses and allowed a beefy tostada gum ball.
I'll look up "Taking it to the nines" article. Drag bikes have always fascinated me.
Found it: http://v4musclebike.com/articles/DMAN999/takinto9s/CycleWorldMarch1987.pdf (http://v4musclebike.com/articles/DMAN999/takinto9s/CycleWorldMarch1987.pdf)
My bucket list is come up and spend a long weekend working in your pits Chris.
You were talking the new 1700. That one does seem like a beast - but been a while since I've studied them much.
Amazing what the level of motorcycle performance has become - both stock and modified since we've been riding!
Plan is the get the race bike out again in 21. Going to try putting it back into 1/4 mile mode and see what we can do! Also want to do some 1/2 mile events - possibly Kansas and possibly Coalinga, California.
I might attend in Coalinga...
Dale picked up his new to him Vmax 1700.

I love what they did with the "new" VMax - modernized it while keeping the original character!
Monkey, Pat, and anyone else - all welcomed wherever we end up running!
I'm sorry to hear the 2nd gen VMax is going away.
Excited to think about what the 3rd gen will be.
The 2nd gen has incredible power that must be felt to be believed.
Made the 1st gen feel wimpy.
I love'em both
Not enough to replace my FJ....
I have a sale pending on a old Kawasaki I have, the buyer expressed interest in my FJ's -
The sun was in my eyes, but life could have been worse!
As always, I can make a big bike look small.
Another all time favorite ride is a Suzuki that just didn't sell.
I should have bought one when Suzuki dumped them....
