I am not in Kansas ... a teaser of more riding.
Fred
Except for the hills, roads, snow, and lack of crops it looks exactly like Kansas.
Beautiful picture except for that old man in the lower left hand corner. Why didn't you wait and take the picture after he left. Oh wait a minute that looks a little like you.............

On the 13th oh July, 5 Kansans left for Avon, Colorado. Our destination for home base was the Christie Lodge. We also had a good mix of bikes in Attendance. Roger on a Honda ST1300, Steve Hand on a Ducati Multistrada 1260S, Hal Williams on a Honda VFR800, Anne Marie on a VFR800 and myself on my 1995 FJ1200.
Riders are as listed above... Left to Right.

The 5 of us headed to Colorado from Wichita, Kansas on Monday July 13th. We took Highway US50 for most of the way. We rode throjgh Dodge City, Pueblo, and CaƱon City, Buena Vista, Leadville and into Avon, Colorado. We stayed at the Christie Lodge. The accommodations were outstanding. We had 3 days of riding scheduled. Every road and destination that had been chosen was a new road for me. Anne Marie and myself traversed 9 Mountain passes. Not in any particular order
1. Tennessee Pass
2. Fremont Pass
3. Cottonwood Pass
4. Independence Pass
5. Loveland Pass
6. Squaw Pass
7. Gore Pass
8. Berthoud Pass
9. Vail Pass
My total mileage for the 5 days was 2148 miles. A few photos show Anne Marie and myself in rain gear. We really only rode in a few little showers. We got lucky and waited out a heavy downpour/thunderstorm in Idaho Springs, before riding back to Avon. 3 of us had action Cameras and we got some good footage of riding. I even tried something new and did 3 videos covering about 35 minutes with live commentary and random ramblings between Anne Marie and myself. During the videos, she is riding directly in front of me. We did have an issue while attempting to ride through Rocky Mountain National Park. I have an Annual Park Pass which cost me $80.00 and allows two Motorcycle riders entry into the park. Roger, Steve and Hal are all retired and have lifetime Park Passes. Once we got to the West gate, we were denied entry based on a non publicized reservation requirement. We were not camping in the park, no hiking. We were to ride through on a State highway. We were not happy riders. As shown in a few photos. Anne Marie with the thumb down with the 4 guys in the background. The angry faces on the 4 guys. We did find some other roads to ride and still had a great ride day.
